Anoushka Shankar
Anoushka shankar is an British and American sitarist. She also sings. She was the first and the first woman to be awarded the British House of Commons Shield she's had nine Grammy Awards nominations and was the first artist of Indian origin to play live and to act as a host at the awards ceremony. Anoushka is a emerging star of Indian sitar. She is both the student and daughter of Ravi Shankar. Born in London and grew up in New Delhi, she spent the beginning of her career traveling between London and New Delhi. Her first performance took place on stage in New Delhi when she was just 13 years old. Later she moved into Encinitas CA where she graduated from High School with honours in 1999. Anouskha is an aspiring young lady, however she's got an impressive career in singing and recording. She often joins her father in performances this she has been doing for quite a few years. In 1998 she released her debut self-titled album Anourag. Her Grammy-nominated Live At Carnegie Hall album was released in 2002. She's performed in all major venues around the globe. Anoushka isn't only a singer. She published Bapi the Heart of My Life, in 2002. The book is a biographical work that is a tribute to her father Ravi Shankar. in 2003 she appeared as a character in Dance Like a Man as the Bharat Natyam artist. Anoushka's career is still developing and she will continue to do many great things in the coming years. Anoushka Shankar was born and raised in England and spent the majority of her youth living between London and Delhi after which she moved to California in the state where she attended the high school. at the age of nine She began studying music alongside her father. The first time she performed on the Sitar took place at her 75th Birthday celebration in Delhi just four years later. Anoushka was able to gain a great deal of experience touring around the globe along with the father. She appeared in Carnegie Hall in her teenage years, and recorded at George Harrison's WOMAD Festival. She was the youngest woman to receive the House of Commons Shield, awarded by British Parliament in recognition of her musical talent and artistic ability within the Asian Arts.
